Do you have Celiac Disease?
Do you follow a gluten-free diet and still have ongoing Celiac symptoms?

  • A research team at the University of Alberta is currently looking for people with Celiac disease for a research study to see if a new product can help reduce or eliminate Celiac symptoms. The study will also evaluate how safe the treatment is and if it improves quality of life.

In Memoriam: Karen de Jong

It is with sadness that we share the news that our fellow CCA Chapter Board Member Karen DeJong passed away on July 8, 2019.

Karen was an active member and dedicated volunteer with the CCA Edmonton Chapter for many years. Karen began her volunteer work with the chapter in 2013 when she took on the position of office volunteer. Assisting with the varied duties of running the office, she held this role until recently when she fell ill.  In 2015 Karen took on additional governance responsibilities when she was elected to the board as a Director at Large.

Karen was always willing to help out where she could and volunteered with special fundraising events such as Gluten Free Pancake Breakfast, Ride Walk Run for Celiac and the Casino. Over the past few years, Karen and her husband Tom were also known to regularly attend many CCA spring dinners, gluten free lunches and other special events.

Our sincerest condolences are extended to Karen’s husband Tom and the rest of her family.  She will be fondly remembered and dearly missed.

A memorial service was held Thursday, July 18  at Glenwood Funeral Home, Sherwood Park.
